Public Governance

Performance measures, shown colour-graded here in three shades from light to dark,  represent a traditional performance scale in the range of 0-10. The darker the colour, the higher the score and the stronger the provincial authority’s performance on each of the five criteria for Good Public Governance as defined by KNKG and measured by ASPEC Research.

Listed under INDEX (Indonesian Economic Cross Reference) are the 33 provinces of Indonesia together with their performance on the five criteria of Good Public Governance. KNKG defines these as Voice & Accountability (Demokrasi), Transparency (Transparansi), Accountability (Akuntabilitas), Rule of Law (Budaya Hukum) and Social Equity (Kewajaran dan Kesetaraan).
ASPEC Research maps public governance in Indonesia using a template. This template is imposed on the data abstracted on each of the categories of criteria to generate outcomes. The overall rating (or score) is averaged from the outcomes in each of these categories.

The fact that performance scores are ranked here is purely incidental and done so for reasons of readability only. No comparison is intended between the various provinces as far as performance goes. Overall performance scores must be considered indicative since some of the measures used in the template are approximations of real data.
We have taken the liberty of using KNKG’s criteria of public governance in Indonesia as a basis on which to test the models contained in our template. The findings are those of ASPEC Research and in no way reflect the opinion of KNKG.
